Solo Discos! This Saturday, Barrio Collective & Names You Can Trust present a special edition pop-up record fair with featured vendor, label and store from Mexico City, Discodelic. The Discodelic team (Ruffy, Majoo & Miles) are absolute world-class record diggers, coleccionistas and sellers. They’ve spent years travelling the Caribbean and South / Central America, unearthing incredible rarities and impossible to find tunes in the deep tropical music universe. They've put together an incredible selection of records for this trip to NY, stuff you will not readily find in the streets and stores here. Joining Discodelic at the seller tables will be Names You Can Trust & Independent Grand, plus merch and collectibles from Kuzumbo Records. On top of that, we celebrate the debut record release “Pa Que Gocen” from Raspadura (Dayansiiita y Sonidero Mixteco). We’ll have extended vinyl DJ sets from Raspadura as well as the whole Discodelic crew throughout the evening. Record fair and music run from early evening 6pm until late night, all in the downstairs space at OWL. Free Entry.

RASPADURA
After years on the local New York scene as DJs, collaborators and permanent fixtures amongst the brightest of musicians and artists, Raspadura has spent a long time brewing behind the curtain, tucked away in the musical minds of real life partners Josue Granados (Sonidero Mixteco, Los Taxis) and Dayan Silva (Dayansiiita). Their coming out party as recording artists is a perfect encapsulation of the duo’s raucous but delightful energy. “Pa Que Gocen” is pure punkera, but seasoned with a deep musical appreciation that abounds in the timeless tropical music universe, and surely a precursor to further recording adventures, as this debut should warrant. The appeal is obvious as soon as the needle drops. Silva’s enchanting vocals grab you immediately, with tales of sweets upon sweets. Pure visions of dulce, panela and miel are chanted over the rhythm of Granados’ low down ska-beat and hypnotizing tres cubano. For Raspadura, dessert is first!
