BEMBONA
With her community-oriented and afro-diasporic approach, Brooklyn born & raised, Puerto Rican-Panamanian DJ, BEMBONA, has established herself as a singular voice in the landscape of New York City nightlife and beyond. In this year alone, she has had the honor to perform opening sets for La India, Mr. Eazi, DJ Blass & more. She has also performed sets for corporations like Youtube, HBO Pa'lante, Snapchat, and has been included in Latinx-focused campaigns with NIKE and Buchanans. Recognized as a mainstay in this musical panorama, Bembona’s musical practice is rooted in healing and self-love, with an emphasis on educating her followers about the politics of Black Latinidad. In an era where much of mainstream Latinx music is whitewashed, Bembona is adamant about empowering and visibilizing those who look like her. Her mission is to continue to celebrate, empower & unite the Black Diaspora.
JFUSE
JFuse has already had a golden career, sharing the stage with artists such as Big Sean, Dave East , Dreamville, DJ Playero, Tito Nieves and many more. Of Dominican descent from The Bronx, he has developed his unique techniques in scratching, blending and reshaping his favorite records. His transitions and use of wordplay truly sets him apart.
Growing up listening to Salsa , Merengue & Bachata has played a fundamental role in the development of his sound. His motives are simple - to keep his crowd smiling, dancing and having the time of their lives.
PAWAY
Paway is a DJ and a house dancer from Queens and Cuenca, Ecuador. Since 2009, his entry point in house dance culture was at 5Pointz, the graffiti mecca. In 2017, Paway started his DJ journey, mainly playing in restaurants, bars and venues in Bushwick, Brooklyn such as La Lupe Cantina, Rebecca's and Starr bar. He is one of the co-founders of "Cuchara de Palo", a collective that caters to the Andean Diaspora through parties, livestreams and mixes in Soundcloud and YouTube. As an effort to bring more events to Queens, In 2020 and 2021, Cuchara de Palo had its first residency at Bolivian Llama Party in Sunnyside, Queens. His sound pushes and celebrates the Andean Diaspora and The City of New York.
Adrian is Hungry
Adrian is Hungry has been collecting and sharing vintage afro-rooted music for the past 5 years in New York City. Tropical sounds from Colombia, New York, the Antilles, Venezuela, Peru, Africa, and more with an emphasis on danceable tunes that hit a nostalgia chord and bring you back to dancing at a family house party.
A traveler and cultural anthropologist at heart, he’s been exploring and rediscovering his cultural identity through music research and curation, creating spaces in Brooklyn to bring this sound back into the Barrio.
Lia Camille
Deja Vu started as an excuse to have a birthday party where Lia could ensure the music would be good. She called on her pals at Our Wicked Lady who let her bring in two of her favorite selectors Adrian is Hungry and Prince of Queens, who kept everyone dancing all night. It went so well that Lia and Adrian have been back every month (minus a pandemic hiatus) bringing a rotation of their favorite DJs to run the dancefloor. A combination of loving live music and wanting to see Latinx artists get more recognition and opportunities across cultural spaces turned into a 12-year career producing and programming in the arts for Lia with that desire at the center, whether it be as the Executive Producer of Celebrate Brooklyn! Or throwing intimate shows across Brooklyn for up-and-coming artists you didn’t know you loved. If you can’t find her, check the dance floor.
