Déjà Vu feat. Nickodemus and Busquelo @ Our Wicked Lady

Déjà Vu again! Friday October 15 at Our Wicked Lady from 10PM till late

This time around featuring two New York music heroes championing the less common sounds found in the cracks and bunkers of this funky city.

@nickodemusnyc and @busquelo have been sharing heavy sounds for over 2 decades each, and are
responsible for some iconic parties like Turntables on the Hudson.

These two love to make the dance floor shake to global grooves that remind you of that trip you are still to take.
Resident DJ Adrian is Hungry will keep rooftop hot with those tunes that make bodies meet on the dancefloor late at night.

Thanks to Lia Camille for opening up the space to create this amazing NY party

Nickodemus

Nickodemus is a traveler at heart—a connecter of worlds, scenes, and people since the late-90s. Over his extensive career as a touring DJ and producer, including four albums and canonical tunes like “My Swing es Tropical” and “Cleopatra in New York”, he’s helped pave the way for an inimitable mix of

global fusion and the heavy beats we yearn for in the club. His music has long thrived on the close relationships and mutual respect of friends he’s built across the continents, felt through the worldly potions he cooks up in the studio, and spanning electronic sounds rooted in Latin, African, and Eastern

instrumentation. His latest album, A Long Engagement, serves as a culmination of the inspirations he’s absorbed and remains rooted in his life as native New Yorker and the city’s nostalgic energy.

Adrian is Hungry has  been collecting and sharing vintage afro-rooted music for the past 5 years in New York City. Tropical sounds from Colombia, New York, the Antilles, Venezuela, Peru, Africa, and more with an emphasis on danceable tunes that hit a nostalgia chord and bring you back to dancing with your tia at a family house party.

A traveler and cultural anthropologist at heart, he’s been exploring and rediscovering his cultural identity through music research and curation, creating spaces in Brooklyn to bring this sound back into the Barrio.

Lia-SM.jpeg

Deja Vu started as an excuse to have a birthday party where Lia could ensure the music would be good. She called on her pals at Our Wicked Lady who let her bring in two of her favorite selectors Adrian is Hungry and Prince of Queens, who kept everyone dancing all night. It went so well that Lia and Adrian have been back every month (minus a pandemic hiatus) bringing a rotation of their favorite DJs to run the dancefloor. A combination of loving live music and wanting to see Latinx artists get more recognition and opportunities across cultural spaces turned into a 12-year career producing and programming in the arts for Lia with that desire at the center, whether it be as the Executive Producer of Celebrate Brooklyn! Or throwing intimate shows across Brooklyn for up-and-coming artists you didn’t know you loved. If you can’t find her, check the dance floor.
