Déjà Vu x Names You Can Trust Edition
Get on the party train! We are happy to have our friends from NYCT for this month’s Deja Vu. Eric and Andrew have been making sure music in NY stays interesting for the past 10+ years. From producing and pressing some of the new sounds of the Barrio, to organizing summer Reggae parties at a Woodshop/Social Club. They do it all and have been a staple for the new immigrant sound of New York.
Joining the NYCT duo will be our own DJ Wild Roots with her dark and wild sounds. Loly has been pushing for women's representation in the party scene in Brooklyn and has started her the collective Disco Locas. She loves to see a crowd dance so you know we will have a nice time.
Names You Can Trust (NYCT)
The flagship operation of Names You Can Trust, Greenwood Rhythm Coalition (aka Monk-One & Little Dynasty) is produced, directed and overseen by partners Andrew Mason and Eric Banta and encapsulates the long-running ethos that the label has been built upon: scientific studio productions, international party promotion and a life-long dedication to unearthing new and vintage records.
Loly Roots
Wild Roots aka Loly Bonilla has been sharing her record collection for the past couple of years, bridging the sounds that have shaped her with the NY nightlife. From Salsa Romantica to Death Metal, there is no predictability as to where she will take her set.
Déjà Vu
Deja Vu started as an excuse to have a birthday party where Lia could ensure the music would be good. She called on her pals at Our Wicked Lady who let her bring in two of her favorite selectors Adrian is Hungry and Prince of Queens, who kept everyone dancing all night. It went so well that Lia and Adrian have been back every month (minus a pandemic hiatus) bringing a rotation of their favorite DJs to run the dancefloor. A combination of loving live music and wanting to see Latinx artists get more recognition and opportunities across cultural spaces turned into a 12-year career producing and programming in the arts for Lia with that desire at the center, whether it be as the Executive Producer of Celebrate Brooklyn! Or throwing intimate shows across Brooklyn for up-and-coming artists you didn’t know you loved. If you can’t find her, check the dance floor.
